Free tool ยท Power BI to Sigma
DAX to Sigma formula translator
Paste a Power BI measure and see how to write it in Sigma. Measures that depend on filter context, such as CALCULATE and time intelligence, get a plan, not just a renamed function, because that is where migrations break.
Runs in your browser. Nothing you paste is sent anywhere.

Sigma version
RestructureRestructure. SumIf([Amount], [Region] = "East")
SumIf([Amount], [Region] = "East")
Where it goes in Sigma
A metric or a column in a grouped table.
What changes
- CALCULATE changes filter context. In Sigma the condition moves into the aggregate itself.
Check after you switch: The result matches with no other filters, then with a date filter applied.
Function map
The swaps that come up in almost every Power BI model.
| DAX | Sigma | Type | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| SUM / AVERAGE / MIN / MAX | Sum / Avg / Min / Max | Direct swap | Same meaning. |
| DISTINCTCOUNT | CountDistinct | Direct swap | Skips nulls. |
| COALESCE / BLANK() | Coalesce / Null | Direct swap | Same meaning. |
| SUMX / AVERAGEX | Sum(expr) / Avg(expr) | Direct swap | Row math goes inside the aggregate. |
| DIVIDE | If(d = 0, Null, n / d) | Check behavior | Write the zero case out. |
| CALCULATE + filter | SumIf / CountIf / AvgIf | Restructure | The condition moves into the aggregate. |
| ALL / REMOVEFILTERS | GrandTotal / Subtotal | Check behavior | Choose the level explicitly. |
| SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR / DATEADD | DateLookback | Restructure | Group by the date period first. |
| TOTALYTD | CumulativeSum in a year grouping | Restructure | The grouping resets the total. |
| RELATED | Lookup | Restructure | Name the keys, or join in a data model. |
What this tool does not do
It translates one formula at a time, using the function names in Sigma's documentation, and flags the ones that need a different structure. It does not read workbooks, see your data, or prove the numbers match. That still takes a side-by-side check on the same data.
